oci version 10g is not supported

Hello,

I have installed (successfully !!!) Oracle 10g in my pc at home.
I am no more able to connect to database with any tools like TOAD,etc.
error: oci version 10g is not supported
anybody has a solution to this problem?
do i have to upgrade from 9i to 10g? (actually i re-installed 10g)
